Change Management Breakfast
In November 2011, Voice Project hosted another educational breakfast event, this time on the topic of 'Doomed before it begins: Why most change is destined to fail'.
For a copy of the materials and the audio podcast of the presentations, see details below.
Jon Williams, Partner at PwC Australia
There is a multitude of research that indicates that major change initiatives, such as mergers, restructures and new strategies mostly fail. However, most of the focus seems to be on what it is about the execution that causes them to fail. Jon proposes an alternative theory; that many major initiatives are simply dumb ideas in the first place. He will draw upon recent research in the field of behavioural economics to discuss his hypothesis that most failed change initiatives are driven by the highly fallible and unconsciously biased decisions made by experienced executives.

Peter Langford, Director Voice Project
Peter Langford is the founder of Voice Project and past Senior Lecturer and Director of the Organisational Psychology program at Macquarie University. Peter will discuss 10 of the most common ways organisations trip themselves up when initiating cultural change. Exploring mistakes such as "Assume what's good will stay good" and "Reward A while hoping for B", Peter will draw upon Voice Project's extensive research results and consulting experience to deliver a highly practical set of traps and tips that attendees can apply immediately back in their workplace.
